Open Call for Documentaries – Syrian Doc Days 2026

 

Syrian Doc Days invites documentary filmmakers to submit films for the 9th edition of the festival, taking place in Copenhagen, Denmark, from 9–13 September 2026.

We welcome documentary films produced between 2024 and 2026 that are Syrian productions or films about Syria, made by Syrian or international filmmakers. The festival presents films that explore Syrian realities, experiences, and stories, whether from inside Syria or across the diaspora.

We are interested in documentaries that engage with contemporary social, cultural, political, and human themes, and that reflect on Syria in a nuanced, personal, or investigative way.

What we accept

  • Feature-length and short documentaries

  • Films produced between 2024–2026

  • Films by Syrian filmmakers or films about Syria

  • Works at any stage of distribution (including premieres and festival-exposed films)

Selected films will be screened in Copenhagen, followed by discussions with filmmakers. All the feature films will join the competition for Best film, Best Director and Audience Award.

After the festival, a selection of films may be presented in additional screenings in Denmark, Scandinavia, and, in collaboration with local partners and by agreement with filmmakers, also in Syria.
