From the 9th – 13th of September 2020, Syrian Doc Days will take place in Copenhagen. Furthermore, there will be screenings in Oslo and Malmo.
Why Syrian Doc Days?
The founder of Syrian Doc Days, Assem Swaid, who himself is from the city Homs in Syria, started the festival because of his interest for film, but also out of a need for informing people about the situation in Syria: “I started Syrian Doc Days because I’ve always been fascinated by how film and documentaries can make such a big impact on you, change your views, expand your horizon”, explains Swaid. “But first of all I started it because Syria is here, now, in Scandinavia – and we need to understand the Syrian situation and also the culture, so we can move forward with compassion, curiosity and friendship”
SDD audience award
SDD also presented the first award this year, which will be Syrian Doc Days Audience Award, will be given to the audience choice in a ceremony with a music concert at the end of the festival.
