about Syrian doc days
Syrian Doc Days is a documentary film festival based in Copenhagen, presenting contemporary films from or about Syria to Danish and Scandinavian audiences. Through film screenings, talks, and professional exchange, the festival creates spaces for reflection, dialogue, and cultural encounter.
Founded in 2018, Syrian Doc Days brings together Syrian and international filmmakers, cultural institutions, and audiences to engage with Syrian realities beyond headlines, and to explore broader questions of freedom, memory, and social responsibility.
The festival is organized by Finjan, a Syrian-Danish cultural organization based in Copenhagen, and is supported by The Danish Film Institute, The Danish Institute in Damascus, Syria TV channel 2, and Mellemfolkligt Samvirke.
Our Values:
Freedom of Expression – Supporting documentary film as a space for independent voices and critical storytelling.
Dialogue & Listening – Creating respectful spaces for conversation, reflection, and exchange.
Care & Responsibility – Approaching Syrian stories with ethical awareness and sensitivity.
Inclusivity & Access – Welcoming diverse audiences and perspectives.
Exchange & Solidarity – Connecting Syrian filmmakers with Danish and Nordic film communities through collaboration and shared learning.
