Introduction
Syrian Doc Days 2023 explored the vital role of documentary cinema in the pursuit of truth, justice, and accountability. Through a powerful selection of films and conversations, the festival highlighted the experiences of victims and survivors of the Syrian conflict, demonstrating how personal stories can challenge impunity, preserve historical memory, and contribute to a more just future.

Opening Ceremony: Live concert with DAna Alshehabi and Adel Najjari
Festival opening ceremony, started with some words to invite our guests the singer Dana Alshehabi and musician Adel Najjari for a live music concert. followed by a dinner with Syrian finger food at Cinemateket.
Panel Debate: Active Solidarity Post Revolution of Dignity
An insightful evening as we screen the documentary, We Are the Giant. This film takes us on a journey through the revoutions of dignity in Libya, Syria, and Bahrain. Released in early 2014, it sheds light on the events that unfolded in these regions. After the screening, the panel discussion will focus on what has happened in the region since, what have we learned about revolutions and the forces that back dictatorships, and the importance of solidarity between movements. The panel will conclude with talking about organizing and messaging for moving forward – what is needed, and how we can organize to link movements beyond borders.
